When you need to send a money order, you have to go Post Office, and fill the form and send money order from Post office but you can also send money order from your home online. Smart Money Order is a service, which allows you to send money to any place in India online. ICICI Bank has introduced this service. The money will be delivered by Indian Postal services to the addressee.

To send money through this service, you just have to follow these simple steps:

The amount will be delivered to the receiver address within 15 working days from the date of debit to customer’s account. India Post will send an acknowledgement of receipt of money to the address of the Sender as mentioned by you at the time of making the request. On a Single transaction, you can maximum request a Money Order for Rs 5,000/- with minimum of Rs 100/- and in the multiples thereof.

Charges are applicable for Smart Money Order service; India Post charges: 5% of transaction amount, note that these charges are applicable even for Money Orders made through Post Offices.
ICICI Bank charges: Rs 25/- per transaction and service tax on Rs 25/- per transaction.

Smart Money Order service is available 24 X 7 X 365. You can send money from the convenience of you home, need not visit a Post office. Non-Resident Indian can also avail this facility. However, for Non-Resident Indian (NRI) customer, sender’s address has to be a local address in India. This Smart Money Order service is very useful to send money to small villages of India.
