BBC Launches iPlayer App for iPad and Android Gadgets

The BBC has launched its iPlayer app for iPad and Android gadgets. With the help of this application iPad users can watch BBC TV and Radio channels live and can get next seven day program highlight on demand. Users can get detail information about program like length, content. Other features include an Add to Favourites button and a Search and Categories button. This application will now be available iPad and on mobile devices running Google’s Android operating system, if their devices run 2.2 with Adobe Flash 10.1 Player and have a WiFi connection.

BBC spokesman Daniel Banker confirmes launch,He said: ‘Apps are a big part of our plans to make BBC Online more easily accessible on mobile devices.’The BBC News app has been a success for us since launching last year and BBC iPlayer will be next off the production line.These apps are coming at a time when we’re really beginning to see massive growth of people using BBC iPlayer on mobile devices.

With featured shows highlighted on this application, iPad users have the option to tap on Most Popular or For You – the latter of which throws up programme suggestions for the individual. It is also expected BBC will also add more features in this application. Currently this app will available in UK.

Toshiba Launches Battery-Powered TVs and Power Saver TVs

Toshiba launched its new range of Power-series LED TVs one of them is PC1, Power Charger. PC1, Power Charger, series TVs are integrated with battery back-up. Power Charger TVs are integrated with rechargeable battery offering approximately 2 hours of runtime in case of an electrical cut.
The PC1 series will be available in 24-inch and 32-inch LED TVs. PC1, Power Charger are going to very useful TV for Indian market where power cuts are a big problem.

The PS1, Power Saver, series of 24, 32 and 40-inch TVs are all designed to maximize power saving. The PS1 is with updated LED backlighting to raise the contrast performance and power efficiency. PS1 has capability of automatically fine-tunes major image parameters by monitoring the room brightness and actual played back content for optimal visuals and power savings. These TVs are priced between Rs.15000 to Rs.65000.

United Stock Exchange of India Starts Currency Derivatives Tradings

United Stock Exchange of India (USE), the newest stock exchange for currency derivatives commences operations from today. United Stock Exchange of India commences operations in all four currency pairs currently allowed by SEBI, namely, dollar-rupee, euro-rupee, yen-rupee and pound-rupee. United Stock Exchange of India will offer a better platform to corporates and SMEs for managing forex risk and hedging in currency. Traders now can trade in Currency Futures.

United Stock Exchange of India has a unique Public-Private partnership with equity participation by both Public Sectors and the private sector banks. Among the 21 public sector banks which have participated in the formation of United Stock Exchange of India with an equity participation include Allahabad Bank, Andhra Bank, Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Canara Bank, IDBI Bank, State Bank of India among others.

Besides, five private sector banks, namely, Axis Bank, Federal Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and J&K Bank also have equity holding in the new exchange. Apart from banks, Jaypee Capital, MMTC and Indian Potash have also participated in the formation of United Stock Exchange with equity participation.

Bombay Stock Exchange is a strategic partner with USE as it holds a 15 per cent stake and all its members are connected to the new United Stock Exchange of India platform. Bombay Stock Exchange, Asia’s oldest stock exchange is providing technology to United Stock Exchange. Trading on USE will be carried out on BSE’s technology infrastructure.

Reliance Communication launches Missed Call Alerts service with new beep, this is a value added service you have to pay RS.15 for a month you will receive sms while your mobile was not reachable, out of reach or switched off. You can get the record of missed calls by subscribing to Missed Call Alerts (MCA) service. You will receive different beep sound for missed calls.

Missed call alerts is a SMS based service which provides the details of the calls attempted on the customer MDN, when the recipient mobile was switched off/out of reach/not reachable.

  • You can view the calls you have missed.
  • You will receive an SMS for all the missed calls
  • The SMS includes details such as the call line identification and the time of the call.
  • Activation – You can activate this service by sending SMS to 51234.
    Deactivation – To deactivate this MCA service SMS to 51234.
