Cuil a massive search engine which has been launched today. It claims to have indexed over 120 billion pages.Cuil was founded by highly respected search experts. Husband and wife team Tom Costello (CEO) and Anna Patterson were joined by Russell Power. Patterson and Power are also ex-Google employees, and the company has been the subject of intense speculation over the last couple of years.

Cuil claims to have better search results then Google. It also claims to be 10 times faster and cut down the indexing cost by 10 times that of Google. But is it really ? When we searched for the our company name Indiandevs which has been recently built then we got no Result. When we searched for labnol , a famous blog by Amit Agarawal which has a page rank of 6 by google we got no result.Although when we did the same with Digital Inspiration we got the first result as labnol.org .
Although Cuil has some better things too. When we searched for computers,we were presented with related terms and also links to some Famous computer companies. You can also have results based on categories.

Cuil also says that they will put user privacy at the top of their business objectives. User IP addresses are not recorded to their servers, they say, and cookies are not used to associate a computer with queries. The data is simply dumped as it is created.

gosh they are directly challenging google, however nice step i am happy someone here is still brave enough
well it is extremely hard to beat up google but it is very nice that some people try it out… who knows… maybe google will buy them out
When I searched for mine with query TECHPAVAN, it resulted in some other sites and also some crappy proxy sites which pointed to my url thru proxy…. Poor thing….
Cuil so far has dissapointed me. Most searches that I perform on a daily basis came up with nothing. In many instances it came up with links that are not very relevant.
Google does a good job of doing some intelligent guesses if the user mistypes the spelling. For example, I typed ‘Mohammad Younus’ in Cuil (the name of the nobel laureate from Bangladesh is actually spelled Muhammad Yunus) and found numerous links to test cricketers but none to the illustious economist. On google you get the right stuff. Not finding our national hero was very discouraging.
Throwing in pictures in the search result really does not add value to me. However, the categories help will be beneficial if organized properly with ‘accurate and relevant’ information.
So for now, Google is the search of choice for me !!
They still aren’t fully optimized. Servers still can’t handle loads
When I searched labnol they showed results to me.. http://www.cuil.com/search?q=Labnol&sl=long
@arif yep I agree with you on the point .The results arent releavant and properly categorised
adding images is not anything good
google can ask webmasters to submit a image of site
@Rockstar sid
they are now showing result
were not showin previously
and also if u search you wont find labnol.org on the first page
The Cuil’s interface and features are cool but still has to improve on the results I think.
