Find and Remove Not Useful Programs from Start Up

Everyone wants to keep his computer running in a fast and sleek way.The programs that run at Start Up play a major part in utilising the memory. The programs which are useless consume a lot of recoverable memory.

In this post I will tell how you can find which programs are useful for you at Start Up and must be running for system’s proper working.

To begin first find which programs are running at your Start Up by using the registry ( Read Tutorial By WIndows Registry Editor Blog ) or by using free softwares like Start Up Control Panel. For both beginners and advance users I will recommend Start Up Control Panel as it allow easy and advance navigation of Start Up list.

Start Up Control Panel

After you have found which programs are running at the Start Up ,go to the Start Up Database of Bleeping Computers at http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/ .Type in the file name along with the extension in the search box.Remember dont type the whole path just type in the file name along with extension  . e.g WZQKPICK.exe

You will get the complete information about the file including file type, description, fix errors and most importantly whether its important to run on Start Up or not.

Get Start Up Info at Bleeping Computers

After you have find whether the program is not useful ,you can disable it or delete the entry :) .

You can also search for the Root Kit database and even submit your own Start Up entries :P .You can ask question at the forums .There are many tutorials also available. There is also a list of Top Start Ups maintained by them.

Enjoy a Faster Computing!

Nice post…it’s funny to see a lot of guys with something like 10-15 startup items. I have just 2 - my avast! resident scanner and the Glary memory optimizer, which frees up the RAM if it’s clogged by the heavy apps like OOo, RSSOwl or Firefox. :)

P.S. Your redesigned theme looks great! Loads up much faster than before too!

Thanks, I’ve been looking for this program to download for a long time (since I don’t like deleting straight from the registry, it seems way too dangerous). =)

oh wait…I tried installing, and apparently Startup Control Panel doesn’t work with vista =/ I’m not surprised…

Anyways, does anyone know where I can find a vista-compatible Startup Control Panel? I’ll be searching the website right now, hopefully it’s there. :???:
