Google launches Search Solutions for businesses

Google today has launched out a new service i.e “Google Site Search”, a service that provides quality search to any website with the flexibility of cloud computing.

                                                  The new service, hosted by Google, allows site owners to quickly implement search functionality that is familiar and useful to their visitors. At the same time, site owners can customize Google Site Search to account for the unique nature of their site and their content.

                                                 The new feature is meant for companies and sites that are willing to sell their products online :mrgreen: because in a research conducted , it was found that 90 % of the customers rely on search terms to buy their products.

                                                     Google Site Search is hosted by Google, and takes advantage of the power of Google infrastructure and flexibility of cloud computing to give any website the same relevance, ease of use and familiar Google.com search experience in addition to more granular control.

Google Site Search now offers:

  • Enhanced index coverage: comprehensive search results on any website by crawling and indexing more content, even pages deep within a site;
  • Synonyms: website owners can add their own custom synonym dictionary (a search for [cd] would include [certificate of deposit] in search results);
  • Date biasing: site owners can influence search results based on the age of documents (e.g., a recent product datasheet is weighted more heavily than older product documents);
  • Top results biasing: specific sections of the site (such as the product catalog) appear at the top of search results
  • Full customization of the look & feel: site owners can fully customize the search results interface to integrate with the unique look and feel of their sites.
  •

  • Site search hosted by Google, eliminating the need to install and maintain additional technology
  • Power and reliability of Google’s infrastructure
  • Relevant results and sub-second query response times characteristic of Google.com
  • Ability to easily set up, purchase, and manage results online
  • Full customization of search results available through an XML API
  • Reporting features that give insight into visitor behaviors
  • Integration with Google Analytics for in-depth reporting
  • Options for email and phone support
  • Opt-in capability to include ads (available through AdSense for search)

Although Google Site Search costs $100 a year for searching up to 5,000 pages but there are even higher pages plans and schemes available at google.com/sitesearch .

    @Topic: Google Site Search costs $100 a year for searching up to 5,000 pages. For pricing on larger volumes of pages, visit http://www.google.com/sitesearch. Google Site Search builds on the Google Custom Search Engine™ (a hosted search solution introduced in October 2006) by adding business integration features through an XML API, the option to turn off ads, a more customized look and feel, as well as email and phone support. Those already using Google Custom Search Business Edition will experience the benefits of Google Site Search automatically with no need to upgrade.

    I still don’t understand the difference between “Custom Search” and “Google Site Search” :?: :?: :?: :!:

  7. Siddharth says:

    Google site search is paid :p and even allows adding ads and much more :P
